
1. Click on the "Start" menu. Then Click on "Settings" and then Click on "Control Panel" from there you can Double-click on "Dial-Up Networking" and then Double click "Make New Connection."
2. Naming a New Connection
Type in USAtek
Make sure that your correct modem is selected in the "Select a device"
box.
Click on "Next".
3. Telephone Number
Type in the correct telephone number for your area and set the country
code on "United States Of America(1)". Make sure you enter the number for
your LOCAL area, otherwise you will be billed for a long distance call.
Click on "Next".
4. Finishing - Click "Finish" to save your new connection to your Dial-up
Networking folder.
5. Dial-Up Networking
Click with your right mouse button once on the USAtek icon you've just
created. Click on "Properties" with your left mouse button.
6. Verifying Phone Number
If "Use country code and area code" is checked, uncheck it. Verify that
the phone number is correct. Click on the "Networking" tab at the top.
7. Networking - Select only "Enable software compression" and "TCP/IP."
The Type of Dial-up Server should be the same as displayed.
Click on the "TCP/IP Settings..." button.
8. TCP/IP Settings -
Select "Server assigned IP address".
Select "Server assigned name server addresses".
If you have problems with retrieving web pages or retrieving e-mail,
follow these steps. Otherwise, click on "OK".
Select "Server assigned name server addresses".
Make sure that "Use IP header compression" and "Use default gateway
on remote network" are checked.
Click on "OK".
9. Security - Click on the "Security" tab.
Type in your username in all lower case letters in the "User name:"
field.
Type in your password in the appropriate case in the "Password:" field.
It is suggested that no options be checked on this tab.
10. Dialing - Click on the "Dialing" tab.
Check "This is the default Internet connection:".
Select "Dial whenever a network connection is not present".
Click on "OK".
11. Create a USAtek shortcut -
Right click on your newly created USAtek Dial-Up Networking connection.
Click on "Create Shortcut".
12. Shortcut confirmation - Click on "Yes" to create the Shortcut to
USAtek on your desktop
13. Connect to USAtek
Double-click on "Shortcut to USAtek" to get the connection screen.
14. Verify that your Login ID is entered correctly in the "User name:"
field. Verify that the dial-up number is correct and is a local phone call
for you.
Click on "Connect" to establish a connection to USAtek.
